J.W. Anderson homage to 80’s Krizia

Whoa! Looks like someone has been raiding the Krizia archive. J.W. Anderson’s fall 2015 collection was hugely reminiscent of all of the best of 80’s Krizia. As a massive Krizia fan I am glad to see this look revived. I’m inspired to get out my vintage Krizia right now!

Teddy Ruxpin at the Soho Grand

Wearing vintage sweater with DL1961 jeans (on sale now), vintage hat (similar here),  Lotuff Tripp bag and leather elbow gloves.

When I found this vintage teddy bear sweater, I knew it was coming home with me. Maybe it’s the sweater’s plushie-ish qualities, but I kind of just wanted to adopt it, name it, and maybe take it for a walk. I named this sweater Teddy Ruxpin, in honor of the amazing Lie Witness News Segment from Jimmy Kimmel (how are those humans for real??). I got this sweater from Vintage Martini, and it is a homemade sweater made by a presumable visionary. If I could ever track her down I’d love to know what else she DIYed.

You might of heard, but New York was extremely cold. It was painful to walk outside most of fashion week. I was happy whenever I got to take shelter in my cozy room at the Soho Grand. My favorite home-away-from home, with the best lobby of any hotel!

When I picture Carine Roitfeld at her most “Carine”, I think of the looks she does in snappy pencil skirts and dominatrix-like laced boots. She wears this combination a million ways but I am most inspired by the looks she does swathed in a Rick Owens or a Comme des Garcons jacket. It’s such a great look and so undeniably Carine. I’ve had my eyes on these stunning cage boots by Paul Andrew for a while now. Paul Andrew is doing some of the best shoes out there…and I think Carine needs a pair of these!

Styling With KC in NYC

Back in December I visited New York to style some of Kenneth Cole’s new spring shoes for the upcoming season. We braved the cold to shoot open-toe shoes and spring outfits and somehow still managed to have an amazing time I’ve been really looking forward to sharing our shots with you and now I finally can!

These grey mules from the spring collection had me really excited. I have always been a staunch advocate of mules and clogs and I am so glad they are trending so strongly this spring. The pale grey color is everything, it’s the kind of color that elevates your whole look. Worn with a great metallic crossbody puse.

These backless booties are super tomboyish. We took the look all the way tomboy with a preppy blazer and flannel. Shoes available here.

These heels were a major favorite, that pale leopard and dove grey combination is killing me! I wore these with some of my own well-loved vintage favorites (including my favorite oversized 501’s and a nubby sweater). The delicate color scheme and feminine silhouette of these stilettos makes them and essential for me.

I hope you enjoyed some of the looks we shot for the spring collection, there will be more to come soon. Check out the new shoe styles here now!

My mom and my little sister and I stole away for lunch at Bistro 31 the other day for a pre-Valentines gift exchange. Growing up in a household of girls, we pretty much know each other’s tastes perfectly and we love to shop for gifts for each other any chance we get. Valentines is no exception! When Pandora offered us a few Valentines trinkets to exchange with each other, I was so excited! I knew Carol and my mom would love the simple and classic jewelry I picked out for them. Over a long leisurely lunch on a blustery cold day, we exchanged gifts and sampled desserts. Carol looks so pretty in her new Pandora earrings!

Carol chose this beautiful feather necklace for me, I love the long pendant style!

I also got my sister this pair of heart stud earrings, I knew they would look adorable on her. The “love” pendant bracelet is so delicate, so pretty with a demure sweater!

My sister is so cute, she is laughing in every photo I have ever taken of her.

My mom loved her Essence bracelet we got her last year so much that we chose some new beads (love and dedication beads) for the one she had already. We had so much fun opening our gifts at our Valentine’s lunch, thank you so much to Pandora for the jewelry!

The Shoes I’m Obsessed With For Spring: a moodboard

I’m getting very inspired to stock my spring wardrobe with lots of dorky heavy-heeled wooden clogs and sandals this season. This editorial  styled by Geraldine Saglio from Vogue Paris’s October issue is a huge point of reference for me right now. I like the chunky socks.

I am looking forward to adding a pair of clogs to my dorky shoe rotation, and I am currently weighing my options. In years past I have loved my Swedish Hasbeens and Dr. Scholls to death, so a clog is a natural progression. Last summer my favorite look was white Dr. Scholls mules with a gauzy 70s peasant blouses and vintage Levi’s paperbagged around my waist.  I could see styling a clog similarly!

This Saint Laurent clog on Net-a-Porter is kind of precious, it reminds me of this candid outfit shot of Kate Moss. What cool style.

Another great clog I found comes from Polo Ralph Lauren. As a Ralph Lauren fanatic, I’m inclined to go with this version!

Yes, I think I need these clogs to wear with lots of fair isle knits and vintage Edwardian blouses and woven leather belts! I must pull out my concha belts and Ralph Lauren sweaters now.  Time to put my summer moodboard together.
